Qatar is known for breeding and showing prized Arabian horses all over the world. The opening event of the domestic show season 2017/18 will be the 20th Qatar National Purebred Arabian Horse show, organized by the Qatar Racing and Equestrian Club. On December 8th, the two-day event will start and provides an initial overview of the breeder's work. A handpicked board of judges will evaluate the horses. The Qatar Nationals celebrates one of the oldest breeds in the world, dating back at least 5.000 years. The Bedouin tribes who lived in the deserts of the Middle East believed the horses were a gift from God. Carefully bred for centuries, the Bedouins created horses that could withstand extreme conditions of the Arabian Desert and tribal wars. It is easy to see, the history of the Arabian horse is full of legend and romance. Nowadays, the Arabian horse is valued for its elegant appearance, intelligence, stamina and comfort to mankind.
